So, before going for the actual topic, let me discuss what is a project. A project is nothing but one temporary endeavor and at the end of the project execution, we are going to get one unique product, service or result. So, now what is the why should I call it as temporary endeavor? Because each and every project must be having a specific start date and specific end date. A project cannot go forever. Whatever which is going to go forever is not a project, that is a production. So, at the end of the project, we are going to have one unique service, product or result. Let us suppose, we are very much eager to have our doctorate degree. We are going for some research work. So, we will be doing that research for say 3 years of time, say for say 4 years of time. Then at the end of that, we are going to get one new result that is a new innovation. So that should be considered. That means doing the doctorate, going through this doctorate program study, obviously that is nothing but a project. Because at the end, we are going to get unique result. Whenever we develop software, then obviously, each and every software has got different recommend list, different client, that different might be the platforms are distinct from one software to another software. So, as a result of that, as a software architecture may differ, the requirements are different, the user interfaces are different, the functional and non-functional requirements are different. So, each and every software is software development The second sentence is a project because at the end, we are going to have a unique service or product or result. In case of software development, we are going to get a unique product. So, in this way, let us suppose I am going to give you the lecture on this software project management. If I, if you ask me to take this particular class, so, for multiple number of times, each and every time, I might be giving different sorts of examples, different discussions, I might be doing. So, obviously, this class is a, this class whatever I am taking on this particular software project management, well, there each and every time, I shall give you unique service. So, that is known as a project. So, a project will be a temporary endeavour. That means, it will have a certain start date and end date. And the project should be ending up and landing up with one unique service product or result. So, now, let us consider the software project management. So, the job pattern of an IT company engaged in software development can be seen, splitted into two parts. So, what are the parts? One is the software creation and the one is the software project management. A project is well-defined task, which is a collection of several operations done in order to achieve a goal. For an example, the software development and the delivery, a project can have the, can have the following characteristics or can be characterised as, every project may have a unique and distinct goal. Project is not a routine activity or day-to-day operation. If it is so, that means, it is a production, it is not a project. And project comes with a start and end time. Project ends when its goal is achieved. Hence, hence, it is a temporary phase in the lifetime of an organisation. And next one is that project needs adequate resources in terms of time, manpower, finance, material and knowledge bank. So, here we are having this respective project management you can discuss in this way. Now, software project. A software project is the complete procedure of software development development from requirement gathering to the testing and maintenance and carried out according to the execution methodologies. In a specified period of time to achieve the intended software product. Whenever we develop one software for a specific purpose, then it would become a software product. So, each and every software product will be the outcome of a software project. And required funding, budgeting and so on. And in this way, within a stipulated time frame, we are going to make one software product ready with the help of software project management. Thanks for watching this video. TutorialsPoint.com.
